Unrestored Gaslight Iron Beds
The largest category of authentic iron beds is the Gaslight bed. Gaslight beds incorporate
an almost endless variety of detailing and materials. Generally using a straight framework
of solid iron uprights in various designs and accentuated with solid castings. The designs
range from the elaborate to the restrained. The detailed castings often incorporate unique
geometric, natural or iconic patterns and the corner castings are often especially unique.
The tops rails can consist of solid iron or have brass spindles or other interesting elements.
They can be arching, flat or bowed and can include a wide variety of finial treatments.
Simple but substantial solid iron bed. 42" Clean design and strong build make this an
iron bed that's from yesteryear, but will be around next year and in a hundred years.
36" iron bed with nice shoulders and in good condition. Simple but tall, this bed is heavy
with attractive teardrop castings and good overall proportion. Quietly sophisticated.
A beautiful twin iron bed in a lovely brown/orange paint. Classic round
dot castings. This is a very solid bed ready to seal for that authentic look or
great for a complete restoration.
Unique long tall twin iron bed in decent shape. Great brass corners and
top rail. Black finish is rusty and rough and misssing two foot caster. TLC could make
this an excellent value.
