Restored Victorian Iron Beds
Generally made from relatively large dimensioned thick walled tubing,
solid iron scrollwork and finely-detailed castings, the Victorian iron bed is usually
more elaborate than most scroll beds in both the number of castings
and in the detailing. Evoking romance and elegance, floral design and
elaborate scroll patterning defines the Victorian design. Corner shoulders
can be square but often are sensuously rounded. Brass or bronze
elements are often used for a draping effect and the overall impact is one of opulence and
luxury.

Refinished in verdigris it is less elaborate than many Victorian pieces but it is elegant
in its construction and the balance of castings.
A great example of the oval iron bed design, this fully restored full size bed has
lovely castings tying together the uprights. The castings holding the oval are large
scale and crisply detailed and the wrought iron finish sets all the elements off perfectly.

A unique iron and brass bed modified into a modern queen size. The single hump
with the iron diamond and brass upright is proportioned excellently in between the
elongated ovals. Large rounded shoulders work well with the slightly flared legs.
